Nipmuc Design for Empowerment

In an ongoing collaboration with the Nipmuk Cultural Preservation non-profit, we have been working to create a roadmap for the creation of a Nipmuc Culture and Education Center in Central Massachusetts.  Working with the community, UMass students produced a myriad of design ideas through a studio in 2013, and executed a small exhibition design-build structure in 2015.  In May 2016 a Boston Society for Architecture Foundation-funded workshop explored ways in which a regenerative, engaged-design process with a design-build component could be productive.   Most recently, we’ve received a Public Service Endowment Grant to build on our collaboration.
